We can provide research assistance for the UK and New Zealand, and to a limited extent, Ireland, USA, Canada, and Australia. We can assist for other countries, but would generally put you in touch with other people more experienced in those countries than ourselves.
We are particularly good at helping break-down those brick-walls we all come across from time-to-time. We are often successful where you haven't been because of our wide range of source material and extensive experience.
Our basic charge for research is $NZ 15.00 per hour (including GST), with a minimum time of one hour.
For small jobs, brick-walls, etc we recommend you set a maximum amount you are happy to pay. We guarantee we will not exceed that and believe in most cases you will be amazed how much can be achieved in a relatively short time. If we are able to find all you need in less time, you will be charged only for the actual time spent. All results include copies of any source documents we find in the process, except those that might incur a charge (see Certificates). We will often recommend that you order copies of those for confirmation of our findings, but that is always your own choice. We will never commit you to any expenditure you have not agreed to.
Once we have found your information, we can either simply send you a list of the results, or for a small additional charge enter it into one of our standard charts or forms. For the real enthusiast we can also put the data into a format that can be imported into any standard Family History software product (a "GEDCOM" file). Prices for these additional services vary according to the amount of information involved so please discuss your requirements with us.
The ultimate solution is to set up your own web site to display, and add to or edit your data. We use a product called "PhpGedView" for this, the same product our own Family Tree here uses. We can set this up either on your own web site (which we can also set up for you) or here on our site. Read our "Software" section of Products & Services for more information.
